Art of yarn spinning

In this workshop we will teach how to start with cotton bolls, hand techniques to process the fiber, roll it in to sliver, Spin it to yarn using a bottom whorl drop spindle.

The Spinning kit comes with a drop spindle sliver and cotton bolls of desi cotton with seeds.

Hand spinning is a wonderful process to instill patience, focus, and peace in an individual. This course takes you through the magical process of fiber forming into a yarn and exploring different plant fibers. The whole process is a tool for us to tune the mind to be in now moment. Another intension is to give insight into what all - time, skill, effort and materials, goes into a handmade garment, to value the true beauty that lies beneath the surface while witnessing and learning the skill of hand spinning.

If you have ever been curious to learn how to spin your own yarn, may be for your fiber art or textile project, or to get fabric made, this workshop is what you have been waiting for… With help of a local weaver you can get the yarn made to fabric, after converting the yarn to a Hank with the help of a simple tool called Niddy-Noddy.
